6th Annual “Tour the Hills” – Saturday September 21, 2024
Event Information
“Tour of the Hills” is a cycling event to raise much needed funds for Cancer Assistance Halton Hills. This one day event takes participants through the picturesque countryside of Halton Hills and is designed to get the community involved in a way that’s enjoyable, challenging, safe and beneficial to everyone involved.
There are four cycling routes available to choose from; 20 km (novice cyclists) and 50km ride (intermediate cyclists), 75km and 100km ride (avid cyclists). The ride will start and finish at the Trafalgar Sports Park in Georgetown. Aid Stations will be set up along the routes to provide refreshments and healthy snacks along with first aid and bicycle repair services. Safety of the participants is paramount, so we will provide a ‘pick up’ vehicles and EMS services along the route to ensure participants safety. We want this to be a memorable and pleasant experience for everyone.
About Cancer Assistance Halton Hills
Cancer Assistance Halton Hills provides free transportation and practical home care support to help those dealing with a cancer diagnosis in the Town of Halton Hills.
- Cancer Assistance services approximaely 295 patients, annually
- Transportation represents 59% of our overall services offered and 48% of our Client Services budget
- Home, Respite and Palliative represent 20% of our overall services offered yet 35% of our Client Services spend and continues to be a growing need in our community
- 80% of all money raised goes directly to servicing our clients
These services support clients and their care givers during the cancer treatment. The aging population means more clients and their care givers turn to Cancer Assistance for these critical services.
Cancer Assistance Halton Hills is NOT associated with any cancer organization or do we receive any government grants to fund our services. Our services are funded locally from donations, fundraising events and the generous volunteers in the community.
Event Goal
The need for quality services in Halton Hills continues to grow as an increasing number of men, women and children face a cancer diagnosis. Our goal is to run this as an annual cycling event that raises awareness and funds required to provide these much-needed services. This will be one of the largest cycling events in Halton Hills with an expected turnout of over 200 cyclists this year and the numbers to increase substantially each year thereafter.
